Eucharist
PROCESS & TIME-LINE
First Eucharist (Holy Communion) Preparation is A TWO-YEAR PROGRAM for children. Sacrament Preparation BEGINS IN THE SECOND GRADE AND ABOVE. The sessions will prepare the children for the the Sacrament of Reconciliation (Confession) and the Sacrament of Eucharist (Holy Communion). Children are encouraged to attend first grade for a fuller understating of the Trinity, learning their prayers, etc.
HELP YOUR CHILD PREPARE FOR FIRST COMMUNION:
· Go to Sunday Mass with your children.
· Talk about what went on at Mass.
· Share how special it is to receive Jesus.
· Make visits to the Blessed Sacrament
· Come early to Mass (or stay after) and pray before the Blessed Sacrament
· Spend time in the Adoration Chapel with your child.
· Talk about how God is working in your life and what the Eucharist means to you.
· Share your experience of your first Communion.
· Encourage Journal writing.
ROLE OF THE GODPARENTS
Although there is no specific liturgical role for godparents in the celebration of First Communion they can be an important part of the preparation process. Godparents should be encouraged to pray for their godchild and to let the godchild know they are doing so. Certainly, they might talk to their godchild about the day of his or her baptism and the importance of that sacrament. Each year on the anniversary of the baptism, godparents might remember their godchild with a note, phone call or by planning a special activity together. Just as with the child’s parents, full participation at the Sunday liturgy each week is the best example godparents can provide for their godchildren.
Classes for unbaptized children over the age of 7
This class is the RCIC (Rite of Christian Initiation for children) adapted for children.
Confirmation
Confirmation is a Catholic Sacrament of mature Christian commitment and a deepening of baptismal gifts. It is one of the three Sacraments of Initiation for Catholics. It is most often associated with the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
Confirmation in St. Frances X Cabrini is a two-year program incorporating the elements of worship, catechesis, community and service into each year. Regular participation in each of these elements is expected. It is the hope of the Pastor, the Faith Formation Team and The Youth Group Coordinator that through these efforts young people will be lead by the Holy Spirit to an ever deepening relationship with God committed to sharing Jesus' ministry of teaching, guiding, preaching, celebrating, worshipping and serving.
St. Frances X Cabrini offers 9th, trough 12th grade Confirmation Class, with Confirmation being conferred in the Spring.
Adult Faith Formation
St Frances X Cabrini is excited to present Adult Faith Formation programs to guide the people of our parish on their faith Journey. Check back on this page for upcoming Adult Faith Formation events.

RCIA
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is the order for initiation into the Catholic Church.
We believe that God extends his personal call to individuals to learn more about whom God is and what he has done for all of us. He extends his loving invitation to recognize our sinfulness and our need to receive God's reconciling love offered through his life, death and resurrection. Jesus calls us to become members of his body which is the Church. The fullness of Jesus' plan for humanity can be found in the Catholic Church.
St. Frances X Cabrini RCIA strives to promote the catechetical education as provided by the magisterium of the Church gathered from Holy Scripture and the Catechism of the Catholic Church. In addition, St. Frances X Cabrini RCIA emphasizes the liturgical aspect of learning about the celebrations of the Church and the pastoral guidance of those interested in becoming Catholic.
For those wondering what entrance into the Catholic Church entails:
If you have not been baptized, the Christian initiation process prepares you to become a Catholic Christian by celebrating and receiving what we call the sacraments of Christian initiation: Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist or Holy Communion. These sacraments of initiation fully incorporate us into the life of God and make us members of his Church.
If you have been baptized in another Christian tradition, the initiation process prepares you to enter into full communion with the Catholic Church by celebrating the sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist or Holy Communion.
We invite you to learn what the Catholic Church teaches in an open and welcoming environment. These sessions also are opportunities for you to ask those perplexing and difficult questions you may have about the Church. We also welcome those who are Catholic and would just like to re-acquaint themselves with or renew their understanding of our beautiful Catholic faith.
